Young Gypsy Maiden
I own a statue of a Cymbal Woman which is really exquisite.
I have owned it for about 20 years.
I have always marveled at the gilding which shows through the paint.
When I was looking at it last night, I became aware that the statue is probably a bronze statue.
It is very heavy, and I always assumed that it was made of plaster, and was a copy of some famous statue. I really liked it because it reflected light through the paint.
The statue is about 29 inches tall, which includes a 4 inch round base.
After getting it into bright sunlight last night, it became suddenly obvious that the statue is actually made of bronze.
The reflection coming through the paint is the polished bronze.
I don’t quite understand why such a superb statue would be made into a lamp.
The statue appears to be of a young woman. She holds a cymbal in her hand, she is very beautiful, and is probably a gypsy woman.
The paint is perfect, I have it in careful storage for many years.
So, I took some nice pictures, and have decided to share them with you.
